Avanto: The Finnish Art of Renewal
In Finland, avanto means more than just an ice hole in a frozen lake—it’s a portal. A passage into renewal, clarity, and inner strength. For generations, Finns have embraced the ancient ritual of plunging into icy water after a sauna, trusting that within the discomfort lies balance, vitality, and resilience.
For us, Avanto began not as a business, but as a necessity. Our founder—a former aerospace engineer and wellness devotee—needed a reliable, beautifully built cold plunge to support his own recovery, clarity, and mental resilience. But nothing on the market felt right. The tubs were clunky, overdesigned, or wildly overpriced. So he did what engineers do: he built one himself. In his garage.
What started with PVC, elbow grease, and late nights has grown into a movement.
Avanto Cold Plunges now brings this Nordic ritual to the modern wellness seeker. Rooted in the simplicity and purity of Finnish culture, we honor a way of life where nature is not tamed—but felt, respected, and fully embraced.
Each Avanto tub is built with aerospace precision and minimalist Scandinavian design—echoing the raw elegance of a frozen Finnish lake. It’s not just about cold. It’s about clarity. It’s about coming home to yourself.
Because this is more than a cold tub.
It’s a return to yourself.
Avanto is:
- honoring those who find strength in stillness.
- grounded in the time-honored Finnish practice of contrast therapy.
- where design, nature, and wellness converge for the everyday warrior.
Whether you're an athlete, a biohacker, or simply someone seeking stillness in a noisy world, Avanto invites you to pause, plunge, and emerge transformed.

History of Avanto
Back in 2021, I was diving deep into the world of cold plunging. As a former college athlete dealing with back pain and chronic inflammation, I needed something to support recovery and mental resilience. Cold water immersion seemed like the answer—but the available options were either overpriced or overcomplicated.
I didn’t want to spend $9,000 for a cold tub. So I built my own.
With my background in engineering and a drive to solve problems, I pieced together a plunge in my garage that actually worked—simple, effective, and durable. Friends started asking for one. Then friends of friends. Before long, it was clear: this wasn’t just a DIY project—it was the beginning of something bigger.
